Change is inevitable because justice, equity, and progress are collectively wrought. Individualism necessarily diminishes these. Individualism is the power of choice without a sense of how to engage socially with it. Self-protection becomes the only point with institutions as extensions of that fear.
Yet, individualization is not the opposite of individualism. In fact, the two share the concern for the abilities and characteristics of the individual. It is not a standardization or white washing. Individualization highlights individual identity, unique purpose, and a trajectory of growth in each person.
Experienced and competent managers can provide fences rather than mazes for those that they lead. This conception allows for innovation and change within specified parameters.
The solution is individuation. But, implementing the solution is a challenge when most are happy with, or at least resigned, to the way things are.
